The job responsibilities might include but are not limited to the following: Participates in and/or lead a process development team to support the upstream development, process characterization, and technology transfer for vaccine products.  Contribute to the development of new principles, concepts, and methods to enable process development, scale-up of processes to pilot scale, and technology transfer to manufacturing scale Conduct laboratory bench work to execute, optimize, and troubleshoot cell culture or fermentation processes. Provides technical leadership for the design of experiments, data analysis and interpretation, as well as providing mentorship to junior staff Represent functional area in cross functional and strategic teams engaged in novel vaccine development.  Actively interacts with internal and external counterparts. Authors required regulatory and technical documentation. Ensures that process/product are developed and documented according to standard Merck practices. Occasional travel and off hour/weekend work may be required. All candidates must be self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.  Additional expectations include a willingness and ability to learn new techniques, perform tasks in parallel, keep detailed and accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.  In addition to having demonstrated scientific and technical expertise, all candidates must possess excellent skills in organization and communication (both written and verbal). Qualifications Education Minimum Requirement: o Ph.D. in engineering, virology or biological sciences   Required Experience and Skills :  o At least four (4) years of relevant working experience in a biotechnology-related field (e.g. viral vectors, vaccines, therapeutic proteins) o Strong scientific understanding and at least four (4) years hands-on experience of fermentation and/or mammalian cell culture processes in bioreactor systems o A demonstrated knowledge of virology and cell biology   Preferred Experience and Skills: o Experience working within a BSL-2 environment o Strong understanding of cGMP principles as well as direct hands-on experience in cGMP manufacturing    Your role at Merck is integral to helping the world meet new breakthroughs that affect generations to come, and we're counting on your skills and inventiveness to help make meaningful contributions to global medical advancement. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
