Associate Director, Materials Management Architect

Our facilities, along with our external contractors, suppliers, and partners, comprise an interdependent global manufacturing network that's committed to delivering a compliant, reliable supply to customers and patients on time, every time, across the globe.  Our Manufacturing Division is seeking to modernize and implement state of the art manufacturing capabilities to ensure rapid delivery of safe, effective and cost effective medicines for patients globally.  To enable this, the Manufacturing Systems Design and Commercialization (MSDC) Operating Unit (OpU) is enrolling domain subject matter experts (SME's) across the operating paradigm to identify and implement blueprints that codify design and operating principles that will deliver best in class manufacturing facilities and performance.  It is expected that these design and operating principles will be derived from within and beyond the biopharmaceutical industry.  Successful delivery of these blueprints will ensure new MMD facilities deliver the promise of the innovative medicines that they produce in a safe, compliant, expeditious and cost effective way. A key element of this modernization is the design and implementation of best-in-class internal logistics and materials management systems and processes that connect our external supply chain with internal production needs.  The Materials Management Architect will be accountable for identifying, developing and ultimately implementing these best and next practices across all manufacturing operations areas that ensure smooth and efficient flow of all inbound and outbound materials.  Under the direction of the MSDC Executive Director for MPS & Material Management Architecture, the Materials Management Architect will work with selected internal Merck startup facilities, operational leaders and site Supply Chain resources to design, build and qualify leaninternal logistics systems and processes.  Approximately 50% of the time will be spent on the shop floor providing direct, hands on support of activities, while 25% will be spent coaching leaders and developing lean capabilities that enable the smooth and efficient flow of material and the remaining 25% will be spent developing global standards (Blueprints) used for commercialization, start-up and launch activity. Due to the nature of the work and diversity of sites, expected travel will be 50-75% with some international travel expected. MMD Materials Management Architect Associate Director Description of Duties: Sponsor and drive a safe-by-choice culture to achieve Target Zero for workplace injuries  Actively prospect for best and next practices for materials management and internal logistics  Partner with and consult cross-functional groups, plant managers and their leadership teams to develop plans and execute lean design for material flow for all new facility operations and infrastructure Develop Lean management for the shop floor through the use of visual factory and Leaders Standardized Work Build internal logistics capabilities by executing people development plans and processes Utilize various lean tools, techniques and global MPS standards to design and install critical business processes and standardized work related to plant-wide materials managements Provide teaching and coaching to effectively transfer skills into the organization Sponsor and drive company-owned sustainability goals and actions MMD Materials Management Architect Associate Director Responsibilities & Capabilities: Know best practices within Merck, and seek out best practices from our industry and prospect for next practices from other industries, while anticipating oncoming regulations Innovate how our work is done Develop business case for new practices Work with the customer and Global Engineering Services (GES) to integrate these practices into design and follow to realization Proactively recognize and mitigate barriers to cross-functional initiatives and can act as an intermediary across divisional, geographical, and cultural boundaries Promote a culture of continuous improvement and challenging the status quo, while driving departmental/regional strategies that align with Merck's long term strategy Manage teams to mitigate risk, allocate resources, and drive on time completion of initiatives Develop visual controls and framework to make problems visible and responds with urgency to effectively break down complex problems, lead root cause analysis, and develop effective countermeasures Lead and coach kaizen with a team to achieve multiple target conditions to achieve an overall challenge Apply industry standard 8-step Problem Solving methodology to solve complex problems urgently Able to engage sponsors and clients, lead major changes, and effectively coach senior leaders Build trust and develop new relationships with internal and external clients to effectively collaborate and achieve successful outcomes at a regional/global level  Qualifications Education Minimum Requirement:  Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field Required Experience and Skills :  A minimum of 7 years working in a Toyota-based, high volume, fast paced lean operations environment Experience analyzing end-to-end supply chains and driving complex process improvement activities delivering real business value Experience with the analysis, design and build of internal logistics processes and systems   Experience applying consultative skills: ability to influence decision making, ability to interact with all levels of the business (senior leaders to shop floor working teams), project management skills (demonstrated experience in managing large teams), solid business acumen, proven team building skills, exceptionally good listening skills, results oriented, strong analytical skills, and prior process improvement experience Coaching, Teaching, and driving a High Performance Organization. Proven experience in coaching and teaching others to think, behave and applylean methods and tools. Experience enabling and leveraging diverse perspectives, talents, etc. to achieve business outcomes Preferred Experience and Skills: Hands-on application of lean tools and techniques: standardized work, scientific problem solving, value stream mapping, mistake proofing, SMED, 5S-Visual Factory, capacity analysis Experience with startup operations (e.g. greenfield or brownfield startup) Requisition ID: BUS003074

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
