The Project Manager collaborates with the IT Client Service Leaders in partnering with the relevant business and IT areas to effectively coordinate execution of strategic projects. The incumbent will be jointly accountable with fellow project managers to improve program and project management capabilities of the PMO. This individual combines the expertise of Project Management, Resource Acquisition, and Merck IT Compliance and Integration. The Project Manager leads planning and reporting activities for strategic activities, is a trusted advisor of the business account manager and client service leads, ensures Merck technology standards compliance and identifies and pursues integration and leveraging of existing platform opportunities. Primary Activities Under the management of the Associate Director, Program/Project Management, the Project Manager leads the delivery of Merck strategic projects. Integral to this activity is the development, implementation, and administration of sound project management disciplines, as well as coordination of change management in the business. Manages client commitment and leadership expectations in terms of project status, upcoming milestones, scope, budgets, quality, and delivery of benefits. Provides input into overall portfolio management process, annual and ongoing portfolio planning for demand analysis, program/project estimation and prioritization with Portfolio Lead and Client Service Directors. Builds strong relationships with business and technology solution leaders. Understands business area opportunities and challenges and impacted process or systems. Collaborates on the development of business cases to secure the approval and resources required to pursue the development of new capabilities, manage the development of requirement specifications related to new capabilities and guide the efforts of project teams chartered to implement these same capabilities.  Manages deliverable estimation process, resource allocation and utilization efficiently and negotiates resource conflicts with other managers. Ensures resource availability and allocation, escalating to management as necessary.  Establish the project governance definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility. Creates and maintains master project plans, schedules and reviews them with the appropriate IT and business partners and steering committees. This includes tracking plans against agreed upon resource levels, timelines and budgets.  Leads the impact analysis and management of project intra-dependencies within the program and inter-dependencies with other programs. Facilitates vendor identification, selection and contracting with business owner, procurement and financial departments and Information Security and Risk Management. Maintains ongoing management of vendor throughout the life of the project and delivery against the contract and project plan. Provides oversight of IT solution execution; responsible for working with the solution managers to ensure coordination; ensures that the correct supply-side and infrastructure services staff are made available to support the project. Manage and maintain the comprehensive project documentation following the Software Delivery Life cycle Methodology.  Provides ongoing status updates on project progress, risks, change management and issue resolution. Leads issue identification, tracking, escalation and resolution documentation. Monitors riskevents before becoming issues and potential roadblocks. Responsible for components of: communications management, schedule management, resource management, finance management, quality management, scope management, control management, and benefits management as they relate to the overall program.  Accountable for ensuring that all work is performed in compliance with applicable policies, laws and regulations.  Performs other duties as assigned.  Qualifications Education Minimum Requirement: BS or advanced degree in IT, Scientific or Engineering field PMP or similar certification (preferred) Six Sigma certification (plus) Required Experience and Skills: Strong proficiency in Project Management, with more than five years' experience of guiding IT projects (>$500K) from inception to close-out. Strong communication (written, oral, presentation), negotiation, influencing and relationship skills along with high personal integrity, credibility, and energy at all levels of the organization. Experience working with SDLC methodologies required; Demonstrated ability to analyze and define business problems, develop business cases, and advise business owners on managing risks. Ability to work toward enterprise goals, using influence rather than control, and fostering a work environment based on trust, sharing and collaboration.  Competent in the use of PPM, project management and analytical software tools. Knowledge of MS Project Server and SharePoint project portfolio management processes and reporting tools. Experience in managing third-party vendors and development partners in a global environment. Ability to manage through complexity and ambiguity along with competing priorities. Ability to coach and mentor junior project managers. Preferred Experience and Skills: Solid understanding of the value of Analytics, Master Data management and other disciplines than underpin good Analytics practices Experience in regulated environments preferred. Ability to make a positive contribution as demonstrated by learning new skills and makings suggestions for process/procedure improvement.  Awareness of relevant industry business, information and technology trends. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
