Packaging Engineer

Job DescriptionPosition DescriptionThe basic function of this position is to oversee the development, and validation of new plastic bottle molds and packaging blister materials at new and existing vendors and then leading the qualification of these packaging components at company sites.
As part of the qualification the engineer would oversee the required compendial testing and support the global change control process.
Work requires knowledge of process capability at the vendor which the engineer will need to interpret, and ability to review technical packaging component drawings.
The engineer is expected to drive their projects to successful completion.
Routine guidance and direction are employed by the supervisor to the engineer to review soundness of technical judgement, and to ensure status/schedule of the project is maintained.
The candidate is responsible by assignment for:
Taking a bottle design from a component specification and working with a team to develop a bottle mold at a 3rd party vendor.
The engineer would review and approve bottle drawings and then oversee / support the validation of the bottle mold by ensuring the vendor meets agreed upon process capability of critical and non-critical dimensions of the finished bottle.
Reviewing existing component specifications for foil and film materials for blisters and work with new vendors to develop equivalent components that meet existing quality and performance criteria.
Working with company sites for them to perform line trials to qualify new blisters or bottles on packaging lines.
Working with 3rd party testing facilities and our company to oversee the compendial testing required by USP, EP and others, Child Resistance, Senior Friendly, extractables, label adhesion or distribution.
Preparing, maintaining, and reviewing documentation including testing protocols, testing reports, technical memos and supplier assessments.
Education Minimum Requirement:
Bachelor degree in Packaging Engineering or similar with 1-2 years' experienceRequired Experience and Skills:
Interpersonal and leadership skills.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Experience and knowledge of the Pharmaceutical environment.
Experience in packaging design for HDPE bottle molding and blister film and foil design.
Project leadership/ management and complex problem solving skills.
Good interpersonal skills including flexibility and ability to work in a team environment.
Good written and verbal communication skills.

Three total days on site per week:
Tuesday and Wednesday - plus one additional day of choice based on what works best for organizations and/or teams.

Expected salary range:
$66,080.
00 - $104,100.
